Freedom and Boundaries /
Frontières et émancipation
The University of Windsor warmly welcomes the 21st annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Our conference theme, "Freedom and Boundaries," was chosen not only to evoke and accommodate the multidisciplinary and dynamic nature of contemporary eighteenth-century studies, but also to reflect Windsor's own identity as a border town with its roots in the eighteenth century. Windsor is a site of border contestation and unification, and a community associated with emancipation both physical and spiritual. We hope all participants will find this 1995 Annual Meeting a rich and even liberating experience.

We regret very much that Dark Confusion, the exhibition of visual images of race during the abolitionist debate facilitated by Marcus Wood, has been cancelled owing to financial and technical problems on this end.
