A New President and a Renewed Executive Committee

At the most recent Annual General Meeting of the CSECS, Fraser Easton, Professor of English at the University of Waterloo, was appointed President of the Society. He succeeds Joël Castonguay-Bélanger, whose term concluded at the end of the Regina conference.

A long-time member of the Society, Fraser Easton has long been regarded as a valued colleague, recognized for his dedication to the vitality of eighteenth-century studies in Canada. An accomplished scholar, he specializes in eighteenth-century and Romantic-period British literature and history, with a particular focus on issues of gender and class. His work is distinguished by its interdisciplinary scope and by its ability to bring literature into dialogue with other forms of discourse.. More information about his research and teaching can be found on his profile page on the website of the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Waterloo.

The composition of the Executive Committee has also been renewed this year:

  • Philippe Sarrasin-Robichaud (Université de Hearst) becomes Secretary of the Society;
  • Nicholas Dion (Université de Sherbrooke) will serve as Treasurer;
  • Alicia L. Kerfoot (SUNY Brockport) will represent the CSECS as Delegate to ASECS.

We warmly welcome them to their new roles and extend our sincere thanks for their commitment to the Society.
